History:
Research conducted in 1993 indicated a severe shortage of primary care physicians across the nation, and in our Piedmont Triad communities. A group of local physicians acknowledged these concerns and rallied together, forming a steering committee to explore solutions. In 1994 the group, working with a national consulting firm, developed a plan to form a fully merged group of practices representing several specialties. On October 1, 1995, Cornerstone Health Care opened -- a multidisciplinary group of 42 physicians in 15 practices. Over the years, this physician-owned and managed practice has grown to its current size of over 290 physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
We serve hundreds of thousands of patients from practices located in North Carolina:
